A few days ago, we announced the global Ignition Series as our first step to build a thriving competitive ecosystem for VALORANT. Today, we have exciting details to share on our first Ignition Series event in North America, the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown.
Taking place June 26-28, the Showdown offers a $50K prize pool, the largest to date for a VALORANT tournament in North America, and will feature teams from big-name esports orgs to amateurs and aspiring professional gamers.
We’re proud to partner with two marquis organizations in VALORANT’s emerging competitive scene and in the broader esports space to present the Showdown. T1 Entertainment & Sports, one of the most storied global esports brands and home of the ultra-successful League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) team, will sponsor the event while Nerd Street Gamers, with their national network of esports facilities and events, will power the event and partner with T1 on its production.
The Showdown will begin with two play-in qualifier events on June 20 and June 21, which are open to all players. Winners of the play-in qualifiers will secure 4 team spots in the 16-team Showdown, where they’ll have the chance to face off against top VALORANT players, streamers and influencers.
The Showdown’s main event will be broadcasted live on Twitch and feature special programming, including exclusive interviews with Riot and T1, in addition to world-class VALORANT competition from amateurs and household names in the game.
The T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown promises to be an incredible competitive event and North America’s first taste of top-tier competitive play in VALORANT. We’re hyper-focused on creating the right environment for VALORANT’s community to grow naturally and sustainably, and the Showdown is our first step towards building that environment in North America.
